Recently I held a playdate here at the house for the first time. I invited some moms over that are friends and some that were acquaintances. I knew it was going to be interesting because no one knew each other and really I did not know some of them well at all. When the invite went out it was somewhat last minute and I didn’t expect a very big turnout. However, we had 12 children turnout and it was fun and insane at the same time! That day my acquaintances turned into friendships. I feel thankful for each and every mom that I was able to befriend and get to know better that day.
One Mom in particular warmed my heart that afternoon. This mom I have known for a very long time, however I have not spent time with her since we were in the youth group together. She is a busy mom/wife with 3 kiddos, ages 3, 2, and 8 months. Regardless of the fact that it interfered with naps or that she had to work an overnight shift that night, she made the effort to be here. I am truly thankful for such a flexible friend! This reminds me of a song by Tracy Lawrence called “Find out who your friends are.”
“Never stop to think 'what's in it for me?' or 'it's way too far'
They just show on up with their big old heart
You find out who your friends are”
Thank you to all of my friends who have been so loyal and reliable through the years. And here is to me being a better friend.
Although, there seldom is a day that passes when I don’t feel Thankful, this time of year has me feeling extremely Grateful.
First and foremost, I am incredibly Thankful that I know our Great Lord, Savior, the one who made the ultimate sacrifice for Us. He is always there for us; he listens, forgives, heals, and blesses our lives and for that I will be forever Grateful.
I am also Thankful for…
My Husband
My Son
My Family
My Friends
My health
Each new day that I live
My shelter & food
The ability to stay home with my son
Many other things...
For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food,
For love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
